“The Archaeologist’s Journey: From the Excavation to the Digital World” in Mednight 2024

? On Friday, September 27th, as part of the Mednight 2024 activities, we had the pleasure of hosting our young friends along with their parents at the “Athena” Research Center in Xanthi for the educational program “The Archaeologist’s Journey: From the Excavation to the Digital World.”
✍️ Our little archaeologists had the opportunity to learn firsthand the basic principles of archaeological excavation and digital archaeology through a series of interactive activities. Together, we dug, discovered “finds,” took photographs, wrote in archaeological journals, and recorded and identified pottery.
? We then explored aspects of digital archaeology, using modern technologies for excavation digitization and the creation of virtual exhibitions.
?️ We concluded this pilot event by drawing what we learned and what impressed us the most. See you next year!!!
