How can digital technologies transform archaeological research and cultural heritage? What are the latest innovations combining archaeology with machine learning and artificial intelligence, digitization, and cultural heritage reconstruction in two and three dimensions, specialized IT applications for excavations, and virtual and augmented reality applications for cultural and educational purposes?

These are some of the questions that will be explored by Despoina Tsiafaki (Head of the Department of Culture and Creative Industries) and George Pavlidis (Research Director), presenting the latest initiatives of the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) in Xanthi, part of the Athena Research Center. From 3D reconstruction of archaeological sites to the use of AI in historical data analysis, this discussion will highlight how technology is opening new pathways to understanding the past.
